Entire State is almost in a state of mourning on the tragic destruction of an iconic Pir-e Dastgir Sahib shrine in Srinagar. Government has ordered enquiry into the tragedy, and the CM has announced that the shrine will be restored to its original glory and expert engineers will be deployed at the task. This is what should be done. Of course, the Government will take the Awqaf on board in all that is to be done to restore shrine’s glory. In this background, leaders of all ideologies have the responsibility of maintaining restraint in reacting to the tragic event. It is not to be politicized or made use of for vendetta. It is a sombre occasion to recollect the message of the great saint whom people pay obeisance and seek his blessings to show them the path of righteousness. It is through the blessings of great saints and savants that we have been able to stick to the path of sanity and spirituality in the course of our march towards freedom, development and prosperity. The State needs peace and tranquillity as it has many big projects for the development of the State. Every sane person will endorse the appeal of the Chief Minister for peace in the State.
