SRINAGAR, Mar 30: The enforcement wing of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) carried out an anti-encroachment drive today at Dalgate.
Mudasir Hussain Banday, Chief Enforcement Officer (CEO) of SMC, stated that the operator of the vending space at a specific spot at Dalgate had exceeded the allotted area, resulting in action being taken.
“He had exceeded the allotted space by several feet, causing difficulties for pedestrians and obstructing traffic movement. We have now removed the encroachment,” he said.
Banday also mentioned that the anti-encroachment drive is ongoing throughout the city, with the aim of clearing footpaths and roadsides of encroachments.
“In this regard, people should cooperate with us. Footpaths cannot be blocked. We are not against their business, but they need to operate within their designated spaces,” he added.
Regarding roadside vendors, Banday mentioned that four vending zones have already been established, urging vendors to relocate to these designated areas.
“These zones are located in Batamaloo, LD, and Hari Singh High Street. Roads should be kept clear for pedestrian use,” he emphasized.
