SRINAGAR, Mar 31: Police today arrested five drug peddlers in Baramulla and Handwara, recovering contraband substances from their possession.
According to authorities, a police party from Police Station Baramulla, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) intercepted two individuals at a checkpoint established at Khanpora.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Azad Ahmad Bhat, son of Gh Hassan, a resident of Naidkhai, and Aqib Ahmad Gojree, son of Mohd Ayoub, a resident of Bagh e Islam, Baramulla.
“During the search, 140 grams of Charas was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Baramulla, ” police said.
Similarly, a police party from Police Station Boniyar, headed by the SHO, intercepted a person riding a motorcycle bearing registration number JK05C-3436 at a checkpoint established at Bimyar, Boniyar.
“During the search, 40 grams of Charas were recovered from his possession,” police said.
The peddler has been identified as Mudasir Rashid Wani, son of Abdul Rashid, a resident of Gantamulla, who has been arrested and shifted to PS Boniyar.
Meanwhile, authorities reported that in Handwara, a police party from Police Station Vilgam, headed by the SHO, intercepted two persons at a checkpoint established at Champora Crossing.
“During the search, 90 grams of Charas was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Shah, son of Saif Din Shah, and Mohd Afzal Shah, son of Abdul Gaffar Shah, both residents of Gund Momin, Vilgam,” police said.
