JAMMU, Apr 1: The Health and Medical Education department has directed all GMCs and other tertiary care hospitals to establish control rooms for inter departmental consultation of indoor patients.
As per a circular issued by the Health and Medical Education Department, the hospital authorities have been directed that control rooms should be conspicuous, easily accessible to the attendants and patients.

“The setting up of Control Rooms inside the Hospital premises across all Government Health Institutions throughout the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir aims at providing the speedy and quality health care services to patients getting admitted in the hospitals (especially tertiary care institutions),” reads the circular.
“The requirements of the Control Rooms are that he Control Room should be conspicuous, easily accessible to the patients and attendants and as much as possible located near the emergency premises of the Hospitals, these should be equipped with adequate man power round the clock with proper connectivity of the telephone services, All calls from different departments sent, shall be transferred to the respective departments for prompt and efficient patient care, The personnel/officials manning the Control Rooms shall maintain a record of all calls from different departments, besides, ensuring that these calls are attended to within the stipulated time and the doctors/consultants/faculty members shall mandatorily attend all such calls,” it reads.
“Consequently, all the Govt. Medical Colleges/other tertiary care Institutions of the Health & Medical Education Department of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir are, hereby, instructed to establish Control Rooms Inter-departmental consultation of in-door patients by consultants/faculty members of different departments and for other emergency contacts/consultations within their respective institutions,” it states further.
“These circular instructions shall be complied with in letter and spirit by all the doctors/consultants/faculty members without fail,” it reads further. (KNO)
