PHC found locked, 2 docs among 14 suspended

MENDHAR, Feb 25:  Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mendhar today placed two doctors and 10 other staff members  under suspension when he found Primary Health Centre, Harni  locked during the mid- day today while he   took similar action against two teachers of a Government Middle School in the area for being absent from duty.
Official sources said that SDM Mendhar, Romesh Kumar  conducted surprise checking in Harni area today. He found PHC Harni, situated on main Mendhar-Surankote road locked at around 12 noon. The SDM then talked to the village Panchayat members and others of the area and got details about the functioning of this Health Centre.
The SDM sought the explanation of BMO Mendhar Dr Parvez Ahmed for poor monitoring in the area and obtained the list of all the employees of this PHC and placed them under suspension. He also wrote to the DC Poonch and Director Health Services Jammu for stern action against the erring officials in this regard. The people alleged that most of the employees remain absent in this hospital and public is left to suffer.
Those placed under suspension are- Dr Shakeel Ahmed (Med Officer), Dr Om Parkash ( I/C Med Officer), Mohd Aziz Shah-Pharmacist, Tariq Khan- Lab Tech, Salima Akhtar and Badra Khatoon- FMPHW,   Rubina Sultana & Saima Tabassum- Jr Staf Nurses,  Dil Mohd- Community Health Officer,  Muzaffar Hussain -Nursing orderly and Majid Ahmed and Abdul Razak both  Safaiwallas.
Two teachers namely Nirmal Kumari and Jahangir Ahmed, posted in Govt Middle School Kot Masjid in the same area were also placed under suspension. They were found absent from duty and somebody else had done proxy on their behalf. An explanation was also sought from the incharge Headmaster.
