Drug De-Addiction Centre established

DODA, Feb 25: As a continuous drive against the drug menace, the District Administration today inaugurated Drug De-Addiction Centre in Doda.
CMO Doda, NGOs (Chenab Welfare and Educational Trust  and Koshish Foundation), officials of various departments, youth, prominent citizens, representatives of civil society among others were also present during the opening of the Centre.
While speaking on the occasion, DDC Doda Mubarak Singh impressed upon the representatives of NGOs (Chenab Welfare and Educational Trust and Koshish Foundation), officials of Health Department, representatives of Civil Society and eminent persons to work collectively with zeal and dedication to eradicate this menace from the society.
It was informed that the District Police has already taken very effective steps and stringent measures to apprehend the persons involved in the nexus of drug trafficking and had already seized large quantities of narcotics and offenders are booked under law.
It was considered appropriate to tackle the problem of drug menace with multipronged approach in which the participation of NGOs, religious institutions, prominent persons of society, various departments, Youth Clubs etc is almost essential and today’s opening of Drug De-Addiction Centre is one important step towards this effort for drug free society.
It was also informed by DDC that a qualified Doctor in Psychiatry Dr. Zia Shouqat Mughal in district has been entrusted the assignment of  Drug De Addiction Centre besides one qualified  Psychologists Uzma Tak and another from Social Welfare Department Doda, have also been deployed in de-addiction centre for counselling, treatment and rehabilitation of affected persons.
