JAMMU, Apr 3: Federation of Industries Jammu (FoIJ) has said that the survival of existing working Industrial units of J&K is at stake due to negative attitude of Industries department towards their growth.
An urgent meeting of Federation of Industries, Jammu was held today under the chairmanship of TS Reen in presence of Lalit Mahajan, JatinderAul, SC Dutta, Ajit Lal Bawa, Raman Jolly co-Chairmen, FoIJ; Viraaj Malhotra -secretary general, PardeepVaid -convenor and other members of the Federation to discuss the casual approach of Industries Department to resolve the issues related to existing working Industrial units of Jammu & Kashmir which includes the non- release of funds for the clearance of pending Turnover Incentive Claims of Rs 207 crores for the Financial year 2021-22 for which only Rs 50 crores has been allocated in the Budget for the Financial Year 2021 but not a single rupee has been given to clear the liability as the allocated funds for Turnover Incentives has been diverted for some other works of Industries Department.
Members present in the meeting raised serious concern  towards negative attitude of State Administration as the step motherly treatment is being given to the existing working Industrial units working in J&K providing direct and indirect employment to around 4 to 5 lakh local people. As the Industries Department failed to resolve the long pending issues in respect of release of payment of Turnover Incentive for the Financial Year 2021-22 and 2022-23 till date, denial of SGST reimbursement to existing units under substantial expansion as notified in the Industrial Policy 2021-30, denial of price and purchase preference for the supplies to State Govt Departments, and other related issues pending with the State Administration since long but till date nothing has been done resulting number of units are at the verge of closure which may lead to mass scale retrenchment of Industrial workers.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Fiscal Incentives announced by State Govt as per Industrial Policy 2021-30 exist only on papers as Industries Department failed to release the pending claims of Turnover Incentive amounting to Rs 207 crores in spite of repeated requests and reminders to enhance the Budgetary allocations.
FoIJ requested the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and Commissioner /Secretary Vikramjit Singh for their intervention to resolve the issues related to the existing Industrial units of JKUT.
