KISHTWAR, Apr 3: Police today arrested two notorious peddlers of narcotic substances and recovered heroin-like substance from them.
SSP Kishtwar, Abdul Qayoom informed that as part of ongoing investigation into NDPS cases in the district, special efforts have been made to identify the entire supply chain involved in the illegal trade.
Acting on intelligence gathering regarding smuggling and sale of narcotic substances among the youth in Kishtwar, a team of cops led by SHO Police Station Kishtwar, Inspector Firdous Ahmed under the supervision of Dy.SP Hqrs Kishtwar, Dr. Ishan Gupta laid a checkpoint near Umar Mohalla Masjid where during checking of pedestrians, the team observed suspicious behavior from two individuals attempting to evade the inspection.
Acting swiftly, the cops apprehended them and recovered heroin-like substance from their possession.
The arrested persons were identified as Mushtaq Ahmed Mir, son of Abdul Rashid Mir, resident of Chachu Mohalla, Takia Magam, Anantnag and Ajaz Ahmed, son of Khushi Mohd Khanday, resident of Serigawari Thakrie, Tehsil and District Kishtwar.
In this regard a case in FIR No. 91/2024 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar and investigations started.
