Over speeding resulted into Ramban accident: Kichloo

JAMMU, Feb 26: Minister of State for Home, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo today said that tragic road accident at Battery Chashma on February 16 in which 14 persons lost their lives, was the outcome of over speeding.
Replying to the Calling Attention Notice of Ramban MLA, Ashok Sharma, the MoS Home said that preliminary examination of the accident spot revealed that the mini bus driver was driving the vehicle at a high speed and tried to overtake the other vehicle during which he lost control over the mini bus. However, the vehicle was having all the valid documents.
“In order to avoid these accidents, traffic regulation system has been further enhanced, surprise and random checks have been intensified in the Ramban sector and other vulnerable areas of the National Highway”, he said, adding DTIs and DySPs have been directed to visit their area of responsibility for better traffic management.
The Minister said that the Police Headquarters/Traffic Police Department has procured ten highway patrol vehicles, out of which one vehicle has been deployed in Ramban Sector to exclusively check the visible offences like overloading, over-speeding, use of mobile phones and driving under the influence of liquor etc.
