Govt needs Rs 83 cr to check monkey menace

JAMMU, Feb 26: Astonishing it may sound but it is a fact that Government needs an amount of Rs 83 crore to check the money menace in different parts of the Jammu and until such a huge amount is arranged the menace will continue.
In a written reply to the question of Jagdish Raj Sapolia, the Forest Minister said, “money menace is a typical problem exclusively prevalent in Jammu region”. “In order to deal with the problem posed by monkeys, a committee was constituted by the Government on January 4, 2013, which has suggested several long term and short term measures to be implemented within a period of 10 years”, he added.
“The estimated cost of implementation of recommendations involves an amount of Rs 83 crore and as soon as the funds are arranged the recommendations will be implemented in a phased manner”, the Minister further said.
