JAMMU, Apr 5: J&K Bank announced the successful completion of Mission R-SAP (Remove Shyness Apply Pads)—a groundbreaking initiative aimed at eliminating myths and taboos surrounding menstruation in the society.
Spearheaded by J&K Bank with LFO-BHF NGO as its implementing partner, this initiative marks a significant milestone in promoting menstrual health awareness in J&K.
A handout stated that throughout the course of this initiative, a total of 503,140 sanitary napkins were distributed free of cost across J&K covering all the 20 districts of the UT while more than 130 awareness sessions were also conducted, reaching out to 54,138 individuals in schools, colleges and community gatherings in J&K.
One of the unique aspects of Mission R-SAP was its inclusive approach which ensured that both male and female populations were educated about menstrual health.
Recognizing the importance of male engagement in de-stigmatizing menstruation, special efforts were made to involve men and boys in the awareness sessions.
“We are immensely proud to have spearheaded Mission R-SAP along with our esteemed partner, LFO-BHF, NGO,” stated J&K Bank officer Incharge for the programme.
Vivek Parihar, Director & CEO of LFO-BHF, NGO emphasized on the importance of collaborative efforts in tackling societal challenges.
“Mission R-SAP has been a testament to the power of partnership and collective action. Together, we have not only provided tangible support to women and girls but also sparked meaningful conversations that challenge age-old beliefs and promote menstrual health awareness,” he maintained.
