JAMMU, Feb 26: An Army jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in district Doda.
As per police sources, an Army jawan identified as Ashok Singh Shikhwat of Jaipur, Rajasthan and posted with 10 Rashtriya Rifles at Doda shot himself with his service rifle.
After hearing the gun shoots, his colleges rushed to the spot and shifted the victim to District Hospital Doda, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
After conducting autopsy, the body was handed over to army authorities for handing over the same to the deceased’s family members for last rites.
A case has been registered at police station Doda and investigation started.
