JAMMU, Feb 26: An impressive Shiv Baraat was taken out from Ranbireshwar temple here today on the eve of Maha Shivratri by the Shiv Sevaks —the devotees of Lord Shiva.
The Shiv Baraat was taken out in presence of Mahant of Ranbireshwar Mandir, Mahant Rishivan JI Maharaj, Dharmarth Trust president, Narinder Singh Jamwal, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Ajit Kumar Sahu, SSP Jammu Atul Goel, Sanjay Gupta and all Shiv Sevaks.
The Shiv Baraat was taken out after performing religious rituals and pooja in the temple premises by devotees.
A large number of devotees from Jammu and outside the State accompanied the Baraat. The artists from holy town of Katra presented their devotional musical items on the occasion.
Starting from Ranbireshwar Mandir, the Shiv Baraat passed via Shalamar and Indira Chowk, Purani Mandi, Pacca Danga, Moti Bazaar and Parade area and back to Shri Ranbireshwar Mandir.
The people enroute greeted the Shiv Baraat by showering flowers on it. The devotees were also chanting the religious hymens and singing bhajans in praise of Lord Shiva. The people also offered soft drinks, juice , fruit and sweets to baraatis enroute. The bazaars were also fully decorated befitting the occasion.
The highlights of the Shiv Baraat were the Shiv Taandav, Mahakali Dance, bursting of crackers, instrumental music and various other feasts by the dancers enthralled the people.
A large number of jhankis were taken on tractor trolleys depicting the Lord Shiva, the Shiv Taandav etc.
