JKP Brass Band team bags 4th place in 14th All India Police Band Competition

JAMMU, Feb 26: J&K Police Brass Band team bagged fourth position in the 14th All India Police Band Competition organized by Assam police at Sarusajai Sports Complex, Ulubari Guwahati. However JKP Pipe Band team bagged 6th position while as Buglers of the organization stood eighth in the event.
Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Prasad, and Additional DGP Armed SM Sahai, today felicitated J&K Police Brass and Pipe Band teams at Police Headquarters for their outstanding performance in 14th All India Police Band Competition organized by Assam police at Sarusajai Sports Complex, Ulubari Guwahati.
Apart from band of J&K Police, bands of Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Maharashtra, Bengal and others, the bands of central police organizations such as CRPF, ITBP, CRPF, SSB, Assam Rifles and the RPF took part in the competition.
While speaking, DGP said that the performance of J&K police bands has been a source of attraction to all the spectators across the State.
He appreciated the performance of Brass Band Master ASI Mushtaq Ahmad during the event for which he was adjudged best band conductor.
DGP announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh for the team members of the band and expressed hope that the team will keep up the good work and bring honor to department and State in future also.
Earlier ADGP Armed SM Sahai apprised DGP about the overall performance of J&K Police bands in the competition.
He said that apart from the exemplary performance of Brass band, Pipe band team bagged 6th position while as Buglers of the organization stood eighth in the event which witnessed competition between bands of 13 states and seven central police organizations.
He said that a total of 1,200 police band musicians took part in the event.
“The bands competed in three categories of brass, pipe and bugles. Apart from playing their police tunes, Indian and classical tunes, the bands also presented their state folk tunes”, he added.
Sahai also apprised DGP about the requirements of the teams.
DGP while speaking assured that all the requirements of the teams in terms of instruments and uniform will be fulfilled.
Among others present were IGPs PR Manhas and Sunil Kumar, DIGs KL Bhagat and Vijay Singh Sambyal, SSP SS Sharma and SO to ADGP Armed Zahad Naseem Manhas.
