Absconders nabbed in Baramulla, Awantipora

SRINAGAR, Apr 6: Police in Baramulla and Awantipora today arrested six absconders who had been evading arrest for decades.
Authorities stated that a police party from Police Station Tangmarg apprehended Nazir Ahmad Ahanger, son of Ali Mohammad and resident of Wahipora Tangmarg, involved in case FIR No. 58/1989 of PS Tangmarg.
Similarly, a police team from Police Station Baramulla arrested Mohammad Ashraf Laya, son of Ghulam Rasool and resident of Jamia Mohalla Baramulla, involved in case FIR No. 99/1999 of PS Baramulla.
Warrants for their arrest were issued by the Court of Baramulla and Sub Judge JMIC Tangmarg respectively.
“They had been evading arrest since 1989 and 1999, respectively. Both were produced before the Court of Baramulla and JMIC Tangmarg,” police stated.
In Awantipora, police disclosed that four absconders, who had been evading arrest for the past 35 years, were apprehended.
Authorities mentioned that a warrant under Section 512 CrPC, issued by the Court of JMIC Tral and pending with Police Station Tral, was against four accused persons: Wahid Bakerwal, Rashid Bakerwal, Aziz Bakerwal, all residents of Hari Chema Kala Koot, Rajouri, and Maam Jan Bakerwal, resident of Wansoo Rajouri.
“All the arrested accused persons were involved in case FIR No. 111/1989 of Police Station Tral and had been evading arrest for the last 35 years. The arrests were made by a Special Police team under the supervision of SDPO Tral. Subsequently, the arrested accused persons were produced before the Court of Law,” police said said.
