Two held with 35 kg Poppy Straw

RAMBAN, Apr 6: Police here today under the overall supervision of SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar foiled a narcotics smuggling bid at Navyuga in Banihal area and arrested two persons with 35 kg Poppy Straw.
Cops from Police Post Jawahar Tunnel while on routine checking duty at Navyuga Tunnel, Banihal intercepted a truck bearing registration no. JK02BJ 4269 which was on its way from Kashmir to Jammu.
During checking of the vehicle, Poppy Straw like substance weighing 35 kg was found in the cabin of the truck.
Driver of the vehicle Rocky Kumar, son of Gain Chand, resident of Sarsoo, Dhandhal, Tehsil-Ramnagar, Udhampur and co-driver Shankar Singh, son of Kirpal Singh, resident of Prowa Jagir, Ramnagar, Udhampur were arrested on the spot.
A case in FIR No. 48/2024 under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Banihal in this regard and investigations started.
