REASI, Apr 6: In continued drive against drug abuse, Police arrested a drug peddler at Nomian area and seized marijuana like substance from his possession.
According to Police, Static Surveillance Team -1 of District Reasi laid a surprise naka at Nomain area and apprehended one person namely Shotu Lal, son of Krishan Lal of Moungri, District Udhampur. On his frisking, approximately 59.5 grams of marijuana (Ganja) like substance was recovered from his possession.
Police arrested the accused and seized the recovered contraband. A case FIR number 98/2024, under Section 8/20 NDPS Act, has been registered in this connection at Police Station Katra and investigation is going on to unearth the backward and forward linkage.
SSP Reasi, Mohita Sharma, while sharing the details, conveyed that Reasi Police is working on multipronged strategy to deal with the problem of drug abuse. On one hand awareness programs are being organized in every nook and corner of the district and on the other hand drug peddlers are being booked under PITNDPS Act on regular basis, she said and added that Reasi Police has also started Anti Drug Helpline Number 9070907017 for general public where identity of caller is kept secret.
