JAMMU, Apr 6: Voluntarily retired and other former employees of J&K Road Transport Corporation held protest demonstration against the Management of J&K Road Transport Corporation and Finance Department for not releasing the pending dues of the VRS given/ retired employees here today.
These employees of the JKRTC under the leadership of Dev Raj Bali, assembled near Maharaja Hari Singh Park, at Tawi bank in Jammu today and held protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans against the JKRTC management and Finance Department and UT Administration and demanding release of their arrears worth Rs 66.24 crores of the JKRTC employees from Jammu region.
They alleged that J&K Government has not paid COLA and 6th Pay Commission arrears of the VRS/GHS and other retired employees of the JKRTC. They claimed that Central Government said to have paid the amount to them including payment of the arrears of the more than 700 employees. Their total DA/COLA amount comes out to around Rs 66.24 crores in Jammu region.
Bali said that most of them are senior citizens and struggling for their hard earned money for the last 12 years and moreover, their 75 members have expired during their struggle and they could not get good treatment due to their bad economic condition. The JKUT authorities have failed to pay their arrears. The officers in J&K Administration are only harassing them and adopting delaying tactics, Bali alleged.
The protesting aggrieved employees appealed the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene into the matter and provide justice to over 700 VRS given RTC workers in J&K UT, struggling for the last over 12 years for getting their own hard earned money.
The Union president Bali was accompanied by other members including Sat Bhushan Singh, Surinder Singh, Shiv Kumar, Surjit Singh, Balvinder Singh, Suraj Singh, G S Tohra and others.
