4-day Bhaderwah Festival concludes

BHADERWAH, June 27: The 4-day Annual Bhaderwah Tourism-cum-Cultural Festival, which was organized by Bhaderwah Development Authority in collaboration Tourism Department and District Administration, concluded today with great enthusiasm and fanfare at Govt. Higher Secondary School (Boys) Bhaderwah. The event received an overwhelming response from locals as well as tourists from other parts of the state and country.
A Maha Dangal was held on the concluding day at Govt. Degree College Bhaderwah in which 54 wrestlers from the area as well as from other parts of the state and country participated. Abdul Gani of Bhalessa won the final of the title by defeating Kamaljeet Khana of Punjab and was awarded a cash of Rs. 25000 and a trophy while as the runner-up was awarded Rs. 10000 and trophy by the CEO Bhaderwah Development Authority, K. S Parihar , who was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the CEO said such events provide a platform and exposure to the unexplored tourist destinations. He said that the Government is raising the tourism infrastructure in Bhaderwah as the area possesses great tourism potential whether it is adventure tourism, pilgrimage tourism or herbal tourism.
He said Bhaderwah is endowed with abundant natural scenic resorts which needs to be explored. He asked the people to establish guest houses, restaurants, hotels and other tourism related infrastructure for which full technical and moral support will be provided by the BDA and Tourism Department for socio-economic uplift of the people.
A colorful cultural bonanza was also organised at the famous tourist spot Guldanda in which various renowned local and outside artists performed and mesmerized the audience.
It is pertinent to mention here that Annual Bhaderwah Tourism Cum Cultural Festival 2012 was inaugurated by Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad at HSS Boys on 24th of June 2012.
Various colorful events which were featured during the festival included Sham-e-Bhaderwah (Ghazals and Musshaira) with reputed national/international level artists, cultural jhankies depicting culture and heritage of erstwhile Bhaderdesh in particular and Jammu and Kashmir in general, cultural programme at tourist resort Jai, Gurdanda, Hanga Nowri, musical concert with star artists at HSS Boys, screening of feature film “LAKEER” besides various other programmes which received an overwhelming response from the public.
