KUPWARA, APRIL 12: The District Election Officer (DEO), Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan today undertook a comprehensive visit of different polling stations of Trehgam, Kralpora and Chowkibal areas of the district to assess and review the status of assured minimum facilities (AMF) in view of upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
The DEO inspected the polling stations of Hiri Bala and Hiri Payeen located at Government Higher Secondary School Hiri (Trehgam). These Polling stations have been designated as model polling stations.
The DEO took stock of all requisite/ AMFs including electricity, water supply, shade, ramp and functional toilet facilities.
She also reviewed arrangements for queue management, especially separate queue for women and elderly voters and accessibility for voters.
She directed the concerned officers to focus on AMFs and features like facility of shade, efficient queuing systems, and clear signage.
Ayushi on the occasion emphasised that model polling stations should serve as examples for other polling stations to emulate in order to improve the electoral process.
The DEO also visited Kralpora and took a detailed appraisal of facilities at polling stations viz Kralpora-A, Kralpora-B and Kralpora-D, which are located at Government Higher Secondary School Kralpora. She reviewed the arrangements of electricity, water supply, ramp and functional toilets there.
The DEO later paid a visit to Marsari, a remote area in Chowkibal and inspected the Polling station established at UPS Marsari.
During the visit, Ayushi Sudan had a detailed assessment of various essential facilities for the smooth conduct of Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
She engaged with the stakeholders to ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place to facilitate a smooth and efficient voting process. She also took on-the spot assessment of provision of basic amenities like electricity, water supply, sanitation facilities, and accessibility for differently-abled voters at this remote polling station.
Interacting with the stakeholders, DEO underscored the importance of ensuring that all polling stations adhere to prescribed standards as per ECI guidelines, to uphold the integrity and fairness of the electoral process.
She reiterated the unwavering commitment of the administration for facilitating free, fair, and transparent elections, wherein every eligible citizen can exercise their democratic right with confidence and ease.
The DEO was accompanied by ARO -Trehgam/ADDC Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmad Bhat, Dy. DEO, Hamidullah Mir, Sector Magistrates and other concerned officers.
