JAMMU, Apr 13: Police in Jammu’s Nagrota area have arrested three people for aiding a notorious criminal escape from the custody of police.
According to a police spokesperson, Zaffer Hussain Khatana of Koteranka, Panhard, Rajouri, Suhail Ahmad Kuhroo and his wife Sonia Kouser, both residents of Athkhuroo Rabitar, Shadipora, Ganderbal, were arrested for hatching a criminal conspiracy to help a highway robberies accused Basharat Mehmood of Nerojal, Tehsil Thannamandi, Rajouri escape from the custody of police from District Court Jammu on April 13 and giving him shelter in a home in Ganderbal District.
The accused were arrested by a team of Police Station Nagrota in close coordination with a team of Ganderbal Police Station.
“The main accused managed to escape yet again by taking advantage of darkness,” said the police spokesperson.
The trio arrested from Ganderbal District have been handed over to Police Station Janipur where an FIR stands registered against the criminal evading his arrest, added the police spokesperson.
