PNBMT pins high hopes on Govt on Shrines Bill

JAMMU, Mar 1:   Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) today said that with the assurance of Law Minister, Mir Saifullah that the Shrines Bill will be passed during the current session of the Legislature, it believes that the collective demand of the displaced Hindus has been registered by the Government as well as the Opposition.
In its Steering Committee meeting here, it said the community has shown collective will and unity of purpose pursuing this consensus demand.  “We believe that the support expressed by the political parties and opinion leaders of the State to the larger objective of the collective mechanism for management of the temples and shrines shall be translated into the passage of the bill, as promised by the Government” Trust added.
The meeting also commended the Chairman, Select Committee for presenting the report before the Legislative Assembly and cleared the path for the enactment of the law. The meeting was attended among others by Dr K L Choudhary, Dr P N Trichal, Dr R L Bhat, Dr A N Pandita,  B L Saraf, H L Bhat, S L Koul, B L Bhat, H N Jato, A K Braru, Manmohanji Thaplo, M K Raina, R L Pandita, Virinder Raina, Padeep Kodbali, Bansi Lal Pandita,  Rajinder Sharma and  A K Raina. The speakers noted that though the report has not collated the opinions of its members and has attached them as such, it is clear that there is total consensus on that the Bill should be passed immediately. The tabling of the report by the chairman points to it.
It however strongly demanded that all the Hindu shrines of Kashmir be brought under the purview of the Bill.
