Speaking during a party gathering in north Kashmir’s Kupwara, Lone emphasized the need for transparency from those promising to restore Article 370, urging them to present a clear roadmap for its reinstatement.
Targeting the NC and holding them responsible for their actions, he said, “If NC can bring back Article 370, they should inform the public of their plan. But it’s clear they can’t. They speak lies to the people.”
Lone further questioned, “When their three MPs could not prevent its abrogation, how do they claim it could be reinstated now?”
He also accused the NC of deceiving the people and stressed that those who held power in J&K must be held accountable for their “misdeeds.”
Regarding the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Lone likened them to a “do for us, and die for others” scenario.
Lone stated, “When it comes to Lok Sabha elections, it is do for us and die for others. We have suffered in the past, and now it’s time for others to face the consequences.”
He highlighted the challenges he faces, being labeled differently in different regions. “In New Delhi, I am dubbed as Al-Barq, while in Jammu & Kashmir, I am labelled as a BJP proxy,” he lamented.
Regarding the loss of statehood and the abrogation of Article 370 and 35(A), Lone asserted that accountability lies with those who governed J&K for the past three decades.
“I’m not answerable; those who ruled J&K for decades should be held accountable for their misdeeds,” he asserted.
