Srinagar, Mar 1: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court today directed that the extension of Principal Government Medical College Srinagar, Dr Rafiq Pampori, is subject to the outcome of the writ petition in which his extension was challenged.
A single bench of High Court comprising Justice D S Thakur issued notices to Chief Secretary, Commissioner Secretary of General Administration Department, Commissioner Secretary Health, Cabinet Secretariat and Principal GMC, Srinagar, Dr Rafiq Ahmad Pampori to file their reply in two weeks to the writ petition filed by Dr Javeed Chowdhry in which he has challenged GMC Principal’s extension. “The extension of Principal GMS is subject to the outcome of writ petition”, the court directed.
Dr Pampori was retiring in February this year but he was given an extension of one year by Government.
Dr Chowdhry in its petition is seeking quashing of the extension order of Dr Pampori. He claims that he is only eligible candidate for the post of GMC Principal as per rules and laws.
Dr Chowdhry pleads that the Government has placed blanket ban on re-employment of the retired officers as such Dr Pampori cannot be given extension.
