JAMMU, Apr 15: A drug peddler was arrested with 4.04 grams of heroin-like-substance from Akhnoor area here today.
A police spokesperson said that a special naka was placed near Old Bridge Akhnoor for checking of vehicles.
There, he said, a pedestrian coming from Bamberwan side towards Old Bridge Akhnoor tried to escape on seeing the police.
He was overpowered by the alert team and on his search, 4.04 grams of heroin-like-substance was recovered, he said.
The accused has been accordingly arrested and booked in case FIR number 63/2024 registered under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Akhnoor and further investigation taken up.
The arrest and seizure was made by a police party headed by SHO Akhnoor Tariq Ahmed under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Sharma.
