RAJOURI, Apr 16: A temporary employee working as electrician with the MES in Nowshera area of district Rajouri was electrocuted today.
Official sources said that the electrician was said to be working with a contractor of the MES. He received electric shocks while working and fell from the top of the electrical pole at Nariyan TCP.
He was later identified as Amritpal Singh (34), son of Darshan Singh, resident of village Rajpur, Kamila under Nowshera police jurisdiction. He died on the spot. The dead body was later brought to 325 Field Hospital where his relatives and inhabitants of Rajpur Kamila area reached there.
They  started protest on National Highway 144 A. They blocked the road and started protest against MES contractor who had engaged the deceased with him on private basis. They alleged that the man had died due to the negligence of contractor and he even didn’t bother to get details and not even come to meet the victims family.
They blocked the highway at about 4 pm and started raising slogans against MES. The protesting relatives were also demanding Govt job for his wife as he has left behind a 15 days and a 2- years old girl children.
After about 4 hours of protest DC Rajouri Om Parkash Bhagat reached the protest site and assured all possible help from Red Cross after elections and pacified protestors.
Meanwhile, MES also announced to provide all kind of help to the victims family. After the assurance from DC Rajouri and SSP Amrit Pal Singh locals ended dharna.
After postmortem of the body by a team of doctors in SDH Nowshera the body was handed over to the family.
