SRINAGAR, Apr 17: The Jammu and Kashmir United Front today announced renowned onco-surgeon and author, Dr Qazi Ashraf, as their candidate for the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat.
This announcement was made during a press conference by Abdul Khaliq Hanif in Srinagar. He expressed delight in revealing that Dr. Qazi Ashraf, a renowned Oncologist, author, and socio-political activist, has agreed to run as an independent candidate for Srinagar Lok Sabha seat on behalf of the party.
He said the JKUF, established in 2018, has decided after extensive discussions to field candidates from all three parliamentary constituencies. “However, today we are only announcing our candidate for the Srinagar parliamentary seat, as deliberations are ongoing regarding North and South Kashmir,” he said.
He said the party aims to amplify the voices of the new generation and provide a credible alternative to the stagnant political party system. “We firmly believe in the free and fair political participation of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to tackle the governance issues that have plagued our polity for decades,” he said.
