JAMMU, Mar 2: This Sunday witnessed an electrifying performance of Urdu comedy play ‘Intzaar’ in Natrang’s Sunday Theatre Series.
The play has been originally written by Shadat Hassan Manto and was beautifully adapted and directed by Sumeet Sharma.
The play ‘Intzaar’ opens in a very hilarious situation in which ‘Mantazar’ is waiting for his beloved to come to meet him in a much awaited date. While waiting, he speaks with his own self and innovates different ways to pass the time calmly. He discusses the daily budget, music, literature etc whatever he could think to divert his attention from the palpitation which he is feeling in the process of waiting, but nothing works. To make the situation even worse, some unwanted guests arrive which make his condition miserable. Finally when the time of meeting comes and the girlfriend arrives, he falls unconscious because of overtiredness. The girlfriend thinks he is unconcerned about the meeting and is sleeping, in the disgust, she leaves and the much awaited meeting turns to be a disaster which steered the comedy towards an irony.
Mohit Sharma as ‘Mantzar’ exhibited his talent as a versatile actor. He was equally supported by Sumeet Sharma as his Inner Self who displayed appropriate timings. Aarushi Thakur as the ‘Girlfriend’ was also very impressive in her short but important appearance. Pawan Verma as ‘Friend’ could register his appearance very remarkably. Ankush Lakhnotra as ‘Newspaper Vendor’ also did his role well. Lights were operated by Mihikshit Singh and music was scored by Ashwani Bali.
