J&K educationally fertile: Lone

SRINAGAR, Mar 2: The workshop on “MATHEMATICA and Related Softwares”, the first of its kind in the Jammu and Kashmir organized by J&K Institute of Mathematical Sciences (JKIMS) concluded here today.
Minister for Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone was the chief guest on the occasion, while as the Minister of State for Science & Technology, Feroz Ahmad Khan attended the workshop function as guest of honour.
Among others, Director of the Institute, Prof. Wali Mohammad Shah, Principal, Amar Singh College, Prof. Zahoor Ahmad Chatt, Prof. M H Gulzar and Dr. Bashir Ahmad Zargar from University of Kashmir besides participants from J&K and other States attended the workshop.
On the occasion, Higher Education Minister Mohammad Akbar Lone said that such workshops provide platform to share knowledge and make participants acquainted with innovative teaching and learning trends.
He said that Government will provide full support to JKIMS for organizing such workshops and seminars in future and facilitate all participants coming from various States of the country for imparting training to our students, scholars and teachers.
The Minister further said that Government will provide every possible support to ensure that this institute will emerge as hub of knowledge and intellect for making the students at par with international standards.
Maintaining that State is fertile educationally, Mr. Lone also said that students of the State have great talent and have excelled in all fields of education at national and global level. He said the Chief Minister of the State, Omar Abdullah is determined for the upliftment and progress of higher education setup of the State and has always extended his support in field.
The participants in this workshop were the faculty and the research scholars of Department of Mathematics, University of Kashmir, NIT Srinagar, and Mata Vishno Devi University besides the faculty of Mathematical Sciences of various higher education institutions from within and outside the State.
The resource persons who shared their experience with the participants were from University of Kashmir, NIT Srinagar, New Delhi and Bangalore.
Earlier, Director JKIMS said that MATHEMATICA is a latest developed human friendly software and it is highly useful in teaching and research of the Mathematical Sciences.
