SRINAGAR, Mar 2: Maintaining that the Government has ensured holistic development of the Srinagar by undertaking various welfare programmes and schemes, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar today said that necessary instructions have been passed to ensure early completion of these so that people get benefited from them.
“Certain parties have resorted to spreading lies and false propaganda to mislead the people and negate achievements registered by the present coalition but the people of the State are privy to the fact that these forces have always preferred their interests over those of the State and they would give a befitting reply to them in coming future”, the Minister maintained.
The Minister was interacting with scores deputations of different areas during his extensive tour of the Srinagar city to get first hand information about the status of the implementation of various developmental programmes and also problems if any being faced by the people. He was accompanied by senior officers of different departments like R&B, SMC, LAWDA, PDD, CAPD etc.
Mr. Sagar gave on spot directions to officers to ensure that the pace of various developmental programmes undertaken under R&B, PDD, SMC, PHE sectors and also those of LAWDA is fast paced, so that the people living in the city get requisite benefits from these and their problems get necessary redressal. He said that the present Government under the leadership of Omar Abdullah has introduced several schemes and programmes, which have no parallels in the annals of the history and have been responsible for changing the socio-economic profile of the people besides ensuring the creation of assets for the convenience of the masses.
At Miskeen Bagh, Lone Coloney and Alamdar Coloney, the Minister asked the LAWDA authorities to speed up pace of work on various bridges undertaken within estimated cost of Rs. 56.76 lakh, so that the people living in the areas and catchments get the necessary connections with the main land and other connecting areas. He also inspected the pace of work on the sewerage treatment plant being constructed at Bagh-i-Roop Singh and directed for its early completion, maintaining it is very essential for the ecology of the area and the water body.
