Two boys injured in shell blast on IB

JAMMU, June 27: Two boys were injured when a shell exploded along the International Border (IB) at forward village of Saandhi in Ghagwal area between Samba-Hiranagar sector this afternoon.
Official sources said the boys had gone to collect stones at village Saandhi, which was an old firing range, when they fiddled with a shell leading to an explosion around 12.30 pm.
Both of them sustained splinter injuries in the blast.
Security and police personnel besides local people rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to local hospital from where they were referred to Government Medical College hospital.
The injured have been identified as Ram Ditta son of Parmanand and Darshan Kumar son of Bodh Raj, both residents of village Saandhi.
Their condition was stated to be stable though they had received multiple injuries all over their bodies.
Sources said the old shell exploded when the boys fiddled with it.
