UDHAMPUR, Mar 2: All J&K State Pensioners Association held a protest rally under the chairmanship of its convener Mukund Lal Sharma here today.
Large number of pensioners across the district assembled here and raised slogans against the Government for not redressing their demands.
While addressing the gathering, Mukund Lal Sharma said that the association is struggling to get their legitimate demands redressed for the past five years, but Government is not paying any heed towards the same.
He said that the Government has till date issued only two installments of Sixth Pay Commission arrears, which is great injustice with them.
Sharma added that the thousands of daily wagers are working in various Government Departments for the past so many years, but are not regularized till date. The daily wagers should be regularized at the earliest, he demanded.
He further added that the additional quantum of the pension in favour of State pensioners, after attaining the age of 80, 85, 90, 95, 100 years and above should be given at 20, 30, 40, 50 and 100 per cent respectively on the analogy of Central Government.
Madan Lal Abrol, general secretary of the association flayed the Government for not redressing the demands including enhancement in medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month and release of pending DA due from January 1, 2009 to June 2009.
Abrol warned that the pensioners and their family members will boycott the candidates of coalition Government in the forthcoming elections, if their demands were not redressed.
Among others present were Parkash Nath, Lehar Singh Jasrotia, Niwas Sharma, Mansa Ram, Chetan Kumar, Gopal Dass, Mani Ram, Duni Chand, etc.
