PFO to introduce online facilities shortly: Sadhotra

JAMMU, Mar 3: With an aim to safeguard and secure the interests of the workforce in the State, the Government is making efforts to strengthen and revive the Provident Fund Offices in each district and to improve their functioning by way of online facilities.
This was stated by the Minister for Labour and Employment, Ajay Sadhotra while chairing a meeting of officers of Labour and Employment Department convened to review the functioning of the District Provident Fund Offices in the State.
The Minister said that Government is abreast with the problems of labourers and several measures have been initiated for their welfare. He said to streamline the functioning of the District Provident Fund Offices, computer operators will be provided in each district office in the State, adding that the arrangement will be made on outsource basis. The Minister instructed the istrict officers to work in unison and complete the backlog of cases in a time frame period.
It was informed in the meeting that an amount of Rs 151.92 crore has been collected in the CP fund from April 2013 to December, 2013 and the organisation has settled 11165 cases for final payment besides settlement of 3396 advance cases during the period. An amount of Rs 69.34 crore has been paid for these cases during the period, the meeting was informed.
It was informed in the meeting that during the last year from April, 2013 to December, 2013 the organisation has issued 1,76,526 annual account statements of subscribers. Out of these 63,746 statements have been issued to the CPF contributors of Jammu Division while as 1,12,780 statements stand issues in Kashmir Division.
The Minister was apprised that live membership of CP Fund scribers in the State is 295841 as on ending December, 2013.
Concerned officers also apprised the Minister with their demands and problems being faced in the field, responding to which the Minister assured that their genuine demands would be considered to facilitate the working of these offices .
Commissioner Secretary, Labour and Employment, B A Runiyal, Commissioner Provident Fund Organisation, Ritu Sharma, Divisional and District Officers of Provident Fund Organisation attended the meeting.
