JAMMU, Mar 3: All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC organizations held a protest demonstration in front of Press Club here, today but their bid to march towards State Assembly demanding revocation of catch up rule order and reservation in recruitment of ReZs and settlement of other demands was foiled by police.
Addressing the protestors State president of the Confederation, R K Kalsotra said that reservation in Government service is the only means for the development of reserved category people as all other important areas like business, trade, industry, art, culture are not represented by these communities at all.
He said, besides all successive State governments have provided employment to about two lakh candidates by recruiting the youth on casual, adhoc and temporary basis in various government departments who after a certain fixed period are being regularized wherein no reservation has been given to the reserved categories and about 50,000 posts are in backlog for SCs/ STs/ OBCs and other reserved categories.
Roster point is not being implemented anywhere in the State, he alleged. Even due share is not being given in PG Medical courses to the reserved categories. Mandal Commission judgment is not even being considered in the State, he added.
He said what to talk of reservation in the State, the Government has introduced the catch up rule in the State to block the promotion avenues of the reserved categories so that no reserved category officer can become HoD.
Kalsotra said that Chief Minister was approached many times but he did not met his commitment of not introducing the catch up rule. He alleged that coalition has miserably filed in the field of justice. He urged the Chief Minister to withdraw the anti reserve class provisions of catch up rule in the State and regularize the ReZ candidates on reservation basis.
NPP MLA Yash Paul Kundal also addressed the protest and took part into the march.
