Six smugglers held, 43 bovines rescued

RAMBAN, Apr 22: Police here today under the supervision of SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar registered six FIRs, arrested six bovine smugglers and rescued 43 bovines besides seizing five vehicles involved in the crime.
Cops from Police Station Batote while checking vehicles intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK14-J-9710 and during its checking found five bovines loaded inside in cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
One Zaroon Ahmed, son of Mohd Sadiq, resident of Ladhwal, Batote was arrested in this regard.
In another case cops from Police Station Chanderkot intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK-14-H-0839 and during its checking found three bovines loaded inside in cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
One Mohd Arif, son of Mohd Rafiq, resident of Jhakar, Udhampur was arrested in this regard.
In another instance cops from Police Station Ramban intercepted three vehicles bearing registration numbers JK-14-E-7706, JK-20-C-3868 and JK-19-7933 and during checking of these vehicles 21 bovines were found loaded inside in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
Three persons Bilal Ahmed, son of Ali Mohd, resident of Sachihall, Banihal; Mohd Irfan, son of Idrees Ahmed, resident of Sooli, Ramban and Ghulam Ali, son of Noora, resident of Dhalwas, Ramban were arrested in this regard.
Cops from Police Station Ramban arrested one Hamid Khan, son of Benia, resident of Village Raipur Jagir, Bhad Road Jammu who was taking 14 bovines without any permission towards Kashmir.
FIRs were registered in these cases at Police Stations Batote, Chanderkot and Ramban under Sections 188 IPC and under Section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and investigations started.
