It is a welcome development that Jammu is becoming a new Railway division. This development augurs well for the Northern Railways as Railway sector is gaining groung with the coming up of Katra and the Valley railway lines. The sector will grow further once Jammu is directly connected with the Valley through a railway line.
To meet the needs of this growing sector, it was quite essential that Jammu snapped its connection with Ferozpur division and became an independent entity. The people of the Jammu region had been demanding such a division for a long time now. Though the authorities had assured them on this front, it however did not materialise due to various factors. Now this demand seems to have fructified with Railway Minister making announcement in this regard. A happy development indeed!
