POONCH, Apr 24: A school teacher was seriously injured when he slipped and fell down into deep gorge while he was on his way to school today morning.
Official sources said that Abdul Rashid, son of Ghulam Mohd, a resident of Chaprian village was on his way towards Govt High School Chamber along with other staff members where he was posted. While walking along a narrow hilly track, he suddenly slipped near Mohalla Kalas and fell down into deep gorge near river.
Immediately after the incident locals of the area arrived and they joined school staff with this teacher for rescue. They shifted the seriously injured teacher to Sub District Hospital Mandi from where he was referred to District Hospital, Poonch.
Medical Superintendent of DH Poonch, Dr. Nusrat Bhatti said that teacher was having serious head, facial and nasal injuries. The doctors initially managed to treat him here and later he was shifted to Jammu for further consultation, though the condition of teacher was said to be stable.
Pertinent to mention that Chamber Kanari Panchayat is yet without road connectivity and residents ot these area have urged many times for that but Government has failed to provide road connectivity to this largely populated area. A road is being constructed from one side towards Chamber but that one left many hamlets untouched.
