JAMMU, Apr 25: All India Congress Committee Observer and Coordinator for 5-Jammu Parliamentary Constituency, Adv Naresh Gupta has urged the Election Commission of India to hold a probe into the assets and liabilities disclosed by the BJP candidate and sitting MP from Jammu Lok Sabha seat, Jugal Kishore Sharma.
Addressing a press conference here today, AICC Observer said the affidavits and the claims filed by the BJP candidate during 2019 and now in 2024 before the Election authorities totally mismatch. He has misled the Election authorities and the claims filed by him during filing of nomination papers for the Jammu seat are contradictory/misleading and raise suspension among the public.
Elaborating on the subject, Congress Observers as Naresh Kumar Gupta AICC Observer/ Coordinator alleged that contrary and mismatching details in the affidavits during 2019 and 2024 have been filed before the Election authorities by Jugal Kishore Sharma, BJP MP. He said in his nomination papers in 2019, Jugal Kushore has deposed that he is one of the partners of Himgri Infrastructure Development Co. along with Mamta Singh, wife of Dr Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta. They sought Rs 29 crore of loan facility from J&K Bank, Jammu against the work for construction of 3 Mega Watt Hydel Power Mini Project in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh.
They drawn last installment of Rs 4 crore from the Bank in August 2016 and got then declared as NPA. But later, the HP Govt cancelled the allotment order.
Previously Jugal Kishore Sharma has disclosed his liability of Rs 34 crore, and now in 2024, the said MP deposed liability only Rs 20 lakh, without annexing any NOC from the J&K Bank. Wherefrom he has cleared his liability, this is a big question.
Now, since the Chief Election Commission has circulated communication that valuable voter has authority and right to know about your candidate. This issue has been circulated/made viral at large scale on social media as well but the RO/CEO has not taken any cognizance of it, Gupta asserted.
AICC Observer requested the Chief Election Commission of India to get the matter investigated through some agency about contrary deposition, which is mismatch between two affidavits about the liability how it has been reduced from Rs 34 crore to 20 lac only in 5 years. The ECI should also direct the police to lodge FIR in this issue, Gupta said.
Senior party leaders Ved Mahajan- JKPCC vice president, Namrata Sharma- general secretary, Neeraj Gupta-Media coordinator, Sham Lal Bhagat, Ex-MLC were also present.
