Ex-Revenue officials among 4 challaned for making fraudulent entries

JAMMU, Mar 4: Crime Branch Jammu today produced challan against four persons, including a former Tehsildar (expired) and two Patwaris for making entries in Revenue records by fraudulent means.
The challan in case FIR number 07/2007 under Section 420, 467, 468, 471, 120-B, 201/RPC r/w Section 5(2) against Lal Din of Taraf Brahmana in Bishnah; Himat Singh, then Patwari Halqa Taraf Brahmana (Retd), Sardari Lal, then Patwari Halqa Taraf Brahaman (Retd) and then Tehsildar Bishnah Surinder Kumar Gupta (expired), was produced in the court.
As per the case, lodged on a complaint by Mangat Ali, Jamal Din and Munir Hussain, sons of   late Hasham Din of Laswara Bishnah, the accused Lal Din was living as a tenant on a portion of their land since 1985. However, after death of the complainant’s father, the accused managed fraudulent entries in the Revenue record in alleged connivance with the Revenue officials and made a false anti dated entry in Kharief 1971.
Even though the land does not fall in the definition given in sub-section 9 of section 2 of Agrarian Reforms Act, the Revenue officials attested a mutation under section 4 of Agrarian Reform Act in favour of Lal Din showing him as prospective owner.
Many other illegalities were committed by the Revenue official for giving undue benefit to the accused Lal Din by misusing their official powers. On the basis of wrong illegal entries, the accused Lal Din was also threatening the complainants to deprive them of the whole land, which was in their possession for the last 40 years.
During the course of investigation, the Investigation Officer collected Revenue record pertaining to the land in question and also recorded statements of prosecution witnesses including locals. The record so obtained was also got examined through FSL and expert opinion thereof obtained before producing the challan in court of law.
