Doda prosecutors discuss new laws in Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita

DODA, Apr 28: The Chief Prosecutors of Doda conducted discussion on new Laws at Dak Bunglow Doda.
The main aim of the discussion was to enhance the knowledge of the new Probationer Prosecuting Officers attached with the Assistant/Additional Public Prosecutors in the courts of Doda.
The participating Prosecuting Officers engaged in an interactive session, raising queries and discussing various aspects on new Laws, which were addressed by the speakers on the occasion.
The inaugural proceedings during the interaction session was conducted by Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer Doda. He highlighted the importance of new Laws and further informed that literature is being compiled on new Laws with the help of senior Prosecutors including Sanjay Kohli APP of NIA Court Doda; Kishore Bandral, PP Session Court Bhaderwah and Mansoor Ahmad, APP of CJM Court Kishtwar.
Sanjay Kohli, APP of NIA Court Doda, threw light on the major changes in the new Laws including the details of offences in Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) where the punishment in terms of fine has been increased/ defined/ added.
Kishore Bandral, Public Prosecutor Session Court Bhaderwah, highlighted the new Offences, new Sections and the new Provisions added in the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Mansoor Ahmad Sheikh, APP of CJM Court Kishtwar, discussed the cognizable offences punishable with imprisonment of a term which may be less than 7 years or may extend to 7 years, and offence punishable with life or death.
The compiled literature was distributed among the Probationer Prosecuting Officers advising them to get updated, work hard and represent the state cases with full zeal and dedication and assist the court in a proper manner.
Later on, Prosecuting Officer Waqar Ahmad was felicitated with a memento who was recently selected as a Judge.
The others present on the occasion, included Sunil Sharma, APP Doda; Rajiv Thapa, APP Bhaderwah; Mohd Shehzad, AAP Doda; Abhinandan Salgotra, APP Doda; Avinash Mahajan, APP Gandow; Kalyan Singh, APP Bhaderwah; Wajid Ahmad, APP Thatri; Mustafa Riaz Wani APP Bhaderwah, Ranjeet Singh APP kishtwar, Vinay Kumar Sharma Sr PO Doda and Prosecuting Officers Ishay Gyatso, Rahul Sharma, Rashid Ali Khan Waqar Ahmad and Shazia Banoo.
The welcome address was presented by Sunil Sharma, APP CJM Court Doda and the vote of thanks was presented by Shazia, Prosecuting Officer.
