JAMMU, Apr 29: Five-day training program on “Marketing and Business Opportunities for Horticultural Crops” concluded today at KVK-Jammu, SKUAST-Jammu.
The training programme was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jammu in collaboration with Division of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Management, FoA and sponsored by CCS-National Institute of Agricultural Marketing, Jaipur, Rajasthan.
Dr B N Tripathi, Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu, was the chief guest during the programme. He stressed upon adoption of various schemes being run under Holistic Agriculture Development Programme of UT of J&K.
The Vice Chancellor asked the participants to remain in touch with the KVK official for utilizing maximum benefits from the Government run schemes. He emphasized the role of startups, value addition, and supply chain management, citing examples of successful ventures that will empower local communities and agricultural innovations in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Also inaugurating fifteen days certificate course on Integrated Nutrient Management at KVK Jammu, he focused upon the adoption of precision agriculture along while minimizing/judicious use of fertilizers/pesticides.
Dr Amrish Vaid, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu, shared insights into marketing strategies and enhancements in agricultural production. He further highlighted the role of underutilized fruits of Kandi areas better productivity and production.
Earlier, Dr Sudhakar Dwivedi, Dean Student Welfare and Course Director of the training programme, provided a comprehensive overview of the training program. He shed light on the marketing and business opportunities available for horticultural crops in the region of Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr Rajesh Katoch, Dean FVSc& AH also shared his experiences during the programme.
Earlier, Dr PunitChoudhary, Chief Scientist and Head, KVK, Jammu, informed that certificate course on Integrated Nutrient Management will generate more number of friendly ambassadors for the farming community of Jammu region.
Dr Ravneet Kour, Dr Sheetal Badyal, Dr Prem Kumar, Dr Muneeshwar Sharma, Satbir Singh and Dr Poonam were also present during the programe.
Youth, SHG members, FPO members from different areas of Jammu region participated in the programme, which concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr Prem Kumar, Scientist, Fisheries while proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr Poonam.
