JKNUF leader approaches ECI

JAMMU, Apr 29: J&K National United Front (JKNUF) working president, Rakesh Handoo who had filled up his form to contest the Parliamentary elections from Central Kashmir (Srinagar) Parliamentary constituency and whose form was rejected during scrutiny has petitioned before the Election Commission of India and made a strong plea for reviewing the decision.
Expressing his deep concern and disappointment over the rejection of his nomination form, Handoo said despite his longstanding involvement in the electoral process , particularly in the Hazratbal constituency of Srinagar he was shocked to see that his name was removed from the electoral rolls without prior intimation or notification.
He said it is a matter of profound concern for KPs whose voices and aspirations he has sought to represent on a national platform. This rejection has not undermined his candidature but also reflects that the community has to be launch a broader struggle.
