UDHAMPUR, Apr 30: The Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur, welcomed a new batch of trainee Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) in an inaugural session held today.
The session marked the arrival of 45 probationary officers, including 30 men and 15 women, at the academy’s Indoor Block.
Garib Dass, Additional Director General of Police and Director of SKPA Udhampur, greeted the 17th batch of DySP probationers.
In his opening address, he highlighted the academy’s role as the foremost training institution for police officers in the region, responsible for providing foundational and specialized courses ranging from constable to ADGP level.
The session also included introductions to the indoor and outdoor curriculums and administrative setup by Rajinder Gupta, (DD Indoor), Rajesh Bali, (DD Outdoor), and Ramnish Gupta, (DD Administration).
The directors emphasized the importance of discipline, which they described as the hallmark of the academy, warning that any indiscipline or laxity in training would not be tolerated.
The trainees were advised on the transformation they should expect in their habits and routines, and the necessity of maintaining peak physical fitness.
The training, tailored to meet the field requirements and future challenges faced by the Jammu & Kashmir Police, is designed to mold them into competent officers capable of serving the community without fault.
The director reminded the probationers that they are not only future leaders but also the image of the entire police family, underscoring the significance of their role and the expectations placed upon them.
The session concluded with a firm directive to embrace the comprehensive training regime, participate actively in both indoor and outdoor activities, and commit to becoming professionals who will meet the expectations of the general public.
