India should emerge as global manufacturer: CEO NITI Aayog

JAMMU, Apr 30: “The Viksit Bharat @ 2047 is a visionary focus on developed nationhood by 2047 as Indian growth model is a combination of much strength” said B.V.R.Subrahmanyam, CEO of NITI Aayog.
Delivering a lecture at SASTRA University in Thanjavur, Subrahmanyam emphasised that India should emerge as the global manufacturer and stressed the need for education and skilling as fundamental to the growth story.
He highlighted India’s rich diversity in the economic growth, demographic dividend, geo-political advantage and early & quick adoption to technology transformation as key drivers of the growth momentum.
Complimenting the success stories of Tamilnadu in manufacturing and services, Subrahmanyam called for a replicative model in other parts of India and also in more tier 2 and 3 towns of Tamilnadu.
“The ‘China + 1’ strategy underlies the importance of what a nation with 35% of world’s production can do” said Subrahmanyam and articulated on the relevance of global trade in the India growth story that requires a trade policy which is fewer protectionists to drive quality of not only goods & services but also life & livelihood.
