DC provides financial assistance to victim families

POONCH, May 1: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin Mohd Choudhary today visited the area where a three-storey residential house was damaged due to landslide at Bedar Panchayat in Tehsil Mandi and provided financial assistance to the affected families.
The Deputy Commissioner also visited the landslide hit Mandi-Sawjian road and took stock of the situation. As reported earlier, a house was damaged on Monday after heavy rainfall and landslide. On the directions of DC Poonch, Tehsildar Mandi along with his team provided tents, mattresses, utensils and blankets.
Today Deputy Commissioner himself with Tehsildar and his team visited there, assured full support from administration. He provided Rs 20,000 financial assistance from Red Cross and directed concerned authorities to prepare files for compensation under NDRF norms. He said for the marriage of two daughters, administration will also provide the benefit through marriage assistance scheme.
Talking to Excelsior, Deputy Commissioner said, ” We have assisted the family in this difficult time, more assistance shall be provided through the concerned department. I assure that wherever damages have been reported, our teams have pro-actively reached on the spot and provided immediate assistance to the victims”.
