JAMMU, May 1: Director Horticulture Jammu, Chaman Lal Sharma today conducted a comprehensive visit to the Government Fruit Plant Nursery in Palanwalla.
The purpose of visit was to initiate plans for nursery’s transformation into a modern, scientifically advanced facility under the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP).
Recognizing the pivotal role of quality planting material in agricultural practices, the Director emphasized the need for upgrading the nursery to ensure that farmers receive high-quality resources.
Additionally, the initiative aims to provide training opportunities for local youth, enabling them to acquire advanced skills in plant propagation techniques and nursery management practices.
During inspection, the Director instructed the Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu, Ashwani Sharma, DLSMS Pomology, Sandeep Sharma and HDO Khour, Amit Saraf to prepare a detailed project report outlining steps required for the modernization of the nursery under HADP.
He expressed confidence that the upgraded nursery would not only cater to the immediate needs of local farmers but will also serve as a model for promoting modern agricultural practices in the region.
The Director underscored the importance of Government assistance and departmental schemes in supporting aspiring entrepreneurs in establishing private nurseries aligned with scientific principles.
