NEW DELHI, Mar 6: Expressing concern over slapping of sedition charge against Kashmiri students studying in Meerut, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said caution should have been taken by the Uttar Pradesh Government before initiating the action.
“This is a very very sensitive issue. There is peace in the State (Jammu and Kashmir) after a very long time. Caution should have been taken,” he told reporters here when asked for his comments on the incident.
Azad, a former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, said he was worried over the incident and hoped that State Government would take cognisance of it and take action.
Sedition charge was slapped against the Kashmiri students for cheering Pakistan’s victory against India during a recent cricket match, a move that sparked an outrage in Kashmir Valley. (PTI)
