National seminar held

JAMMU, May 2: Two- day national seminar on the topic “Contribution of Non-Muslim Short Story writers in the development of Urdu Literature”, organized by the Department of Urdu, University of Jammu and Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, concluded today with a Sham-e-Ghazal .
Renowned Ghazal singer Seema Anil Sehgal mesmerized the audience by singing Ghazal which she had presented during her visit to Pakistan with the then Prime Minister Late Atal Behari Vajpayee.
Earlier during the two technical sessions, various research papers on the Non-Muslim Short Story writer were presented by Prof Sageer Afraheim (AMU), Prof Shohab Inayat Malik (Jammu University), Prof Abu Baker Abad (Delhi University), Dr T R Raina (Jammu), Dr Kouser Rasool (Kashmir University), Dr Chaman Lal (Jammu University), Dr Farhat Shamim (Jammu University), and Dr Shehnawaz Qadri (GDC Majalta).
The 1st technical session was presided over by Prof Khawaja Ekram Ud Din (JNU), Prof Fazullah Mukarm (Central University Hyderabad) and Prof Sageer Afraheim (AMU).
In the 2nd technical session, Prof Mushtaq Alam Qadri (Delhi University), Prof Asdullah Wani (Jammu), Dr Altaf Hussain (Srinagar), Dr Asaf Malik (BGSBU), Dr Abdul Haque from Rajouri presented papers on the various aspects of the topic. The 2nd technical session was presided over by Khalid Hussain, Prof Mushtaq Alam Qadri and Dr T R Raina.
Dr Chaman Lal of the Department of Urdu, JU and Dr Abdul Rashid Manhas conducted proceedings of the two technical sessions respectively, while Prof Shohab Inayat Malik, presented vote of thanks in the technical sessions.
Prof Shohab informed that in near future a one day national seminar will be organized on the subject “Contribution of Dogra Rulers in the development of Urdu language and literature in J&K” in collaboration with JKAACL. The department is also organising a one day seminar on the “Life and works of Urdu and Kashmiri poet Rasa Javedani” on 27th of May 2024, he added.
That two- day national seminar on “Contribution of Non-Muslim Short Story writers in the development of Urdu Literature” was inaugurated yesterday by Principal Secretary Culture Suresh Kumar Gupta.
