GDA cracks down on traffic violations

SRINAGAR, May 2: The administration at the famous ski resort Gulmarg today launched a drive against traffic violations, including overcharging and wrong parking.
A spokesperson for the Gulmarg Development Authority stated that the Cheif Executive Officer( CEO) of Gulmarg, along with a joint team from the Motor Vehicle Department, Traffic Department, Municipality, and Police, initiated an enforcement drive in Gulmarg and Tangmarg to address these issues for the convenience of visiting tourists and locals. “The enforcement drive aimed to encourage active engagement from the community, including pedestrians and public transport users, in promoting a culture of responsibility and adherence to traffic laws,” the spokesperson said.
During the drive, he said, the team checked hundreds of vehicles and imposed fines totaling Rs 45,000 on many offenders for wrong parking and other traffic violations.
Meanwhile, CEO Gulmarg emphasized that the enforcement drive was part of measures to address issues such as overcharging, illegal parking, traffic flow management, and pedestrian safety.
