Four smugglers held, 129 bovines rescued

RAMBAN, May 2: Police here today under the supervision of SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar foiled bovine smuggling attempts and registered six FIRs, arrested four bovine smugglers, rescued 129 bovines and seized six vehicles involved in the crime.
Cops from Police Station Batote while performing vehicle checking duty intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK02CL-1144 and during its checking 19 bovines were found loaded in a cruel manner which were being transported illegally towards Kashmir.
One Manzoor Ahmed Wani, son of Abdual Majeed Wani, resident of Gool, Ramban was arrested in this connection.
In another instance cops from Police Station Chanderkote intercepted two vehicles bearing registration number JK19A-2917 and JK19A-2605 and during the checking of these vehicles 23 bovines were found loaded in cruel manner and were being transported illegally towards Kashmir.
Drivers of both the vehicles managed to escape from spot.
In yet another instance cops from Police Station Ramban intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK19A-2916 and during its checking found 21 bovines loaded in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally towards Kashmir.
One Barket Ali, son of Karra Jatt, resident of Thatarkha, Gool was arrested in this regard.
In another instance cops from Police Station Ramsoo intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK19A-8885 and JK14K-6059 and during checking of these vehicles found 66 bovines loaded in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally towards Kashmir.
Two smugglers-Rahil Mughal, son of Mehmood Ahmed, resident of Tatrsoo, Ramban and Mohd. Sahil, son of Irshad Ahmed Wani, resident of Seri, Ramban were arrested in this regard.
In these cases, FIR number 57/2024 was registered at Police Station Batote, FIR number 58/2024 and 59/2024 at Police Station Chanderkote, FIR number 95/2024 at Police Station Ramban and FIR numbers 56/2024 and 57/2024 at Police Station Ramsoo under Section 188 IPC and under Section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
